After walking new car dealers I tried out a stock antenna from a Dodge 1500 pickup. (I know...a US part on my Land Cruiser) You'll see in this picture the Dodge antenna disappears into the truck.

While I didn't want to cut into my nice truck's front fender, fate had it that the Snorkel was going on after all. After my buddy Doron had experienced a long and deep water crossing which resulted in water in his 100's air box...I decided that it was time to cut (and so did Doron). Since, the deep crossings have been aplenty. Some with waves over the front window! Fitting a snorkel in a US UZJ required removal of the electric antenna. Details on the antenna modification are captioned in the pics:

John Shotts (shottscruisers) > The stock electric antenna had to come out to fit the snorkel. In it's place I fit an aftermarket unit. It never worked or fit well despite the side view in this picture.

John Shotts (shottscruisers) > Not only did it point all types of wild directions, it consistently loosened up. Reception suffered. I had to find some OEM antenna that was tough. (That's a Firestick CB antenna on the ARB Sahara Bar.

John Shotts (shottscruisers) > Closeup view. In the original position the antenna angles in slightly. I left the angle this way. You could bend it at the base if you prefer another angle.

John Shotts (shottscruisers) > The antenna fit TIGHT and is every bit as rugged as the stock antenna. I opted for the black rubber slide-on antenna cover.
