John Shotts (shottscruisers)  > Four Wheeling > 2001 UZJ100 > Roklimo runs the LEFT side of Three Feathers!! (on the Chiva Falls Trail)
SPECTACULAR! (once I completed the climb) The left side of Three Feathers is a truck eater! We've seen so many vehicles on TWO wheels, their sides, and their rears on this line. Being much more difficult and dramatically risker than "The Step" on the Charouleau Gap Trail, I was really scared to take my nice Cruiser up this side. Brian got me to do it. Thanks again Brian (aka goodtimes) for convincing me to, then spotting me up this 4.0 obstacle. Brian was the same buddy who finally got me to try this wild line in my '93. I learned even more about the UZJ100 capability. I'm solidly convinced that there's very little the 80-series has over the 100 on any trail (except for size). When I take these extreme obstacles on, the 100 suceeds with every bit of ease as my 80's do. More than ever...the UZJ is in my opinion the best Land Cruiser ever built to date. GO ROKLIMO! And remember...pictures never do justice.

John Shotts (shottscruisers) > LEFT side of Three Feathers climb on the Chiva Falls Trail...video-like version.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > First...a few shots from the bottom. I took these on a previous run while contemplating to try the obstacle.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > I approached carefully and feared sliding into that HUGE rock on the passenger side.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > Just the approach got me flexed out.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > I took a step back to get another look.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > I walked over to this side and said "NOPE...NOT in this truck!".
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > OK...on to today. Brian lined me up. I got out and looked it over. We talked about it and.....OK...LET'S TRY IT!
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > Once almost past the huge rock, my concern was putting my bumper into that 5+ foot ledge.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > I cleared the bumper with no problem. From here we weren't backing back down! .
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > Climbing was slow and easy. Surprisingly the traction (fully locked up) was pretty good.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > Once the front was up the main ledge the passenger rear has to drop down into the big hole in the bottom. All this time you're climbing across a 6-7 foot deep crack. Notice the pass rear fully extended. I'd not try recommend to try this with 100-series shocks.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > As the pass rear enters the hole the front driver's wheel starts off the ground.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > I kept climbing per Brian's instruction. At one point he hopped onto my slider to weight the front down. That didn't last long. Slid off because the angle was so steep.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > Now I was into my slider. Notice just how tall this climb is? Look at Brian.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > I was FREAKED in this spot. I really feared a roll over though Brian stated I looked really planted. Thank God he was right!
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > That driver's front wheel was about 4-feet off the rocks below! FREAK!
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > Brian says "pose". I said "HURRY UP BRIAN"!
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > Finally....ALL four wheels climbing. The front was coming down.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > You could have got a second 35-inch tire under mine at thos point.
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > Brian took me up perfect. This is the spot where one often slides left and the rear wheel enters that crack. That's where ya get hosed!
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > No slide today. I'm up. WOO HOO!
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > OK...relax. And look at the HUGE crack below Brian. This was fun. Will I do it again in Roklimo? Only with Brian! [:>)
John Shotts (shottscruisers) > My wheeling friends love me! [:>)
